the night when he pointed out, you know, the governor romney's ideas apparently are too good to communicate to the american people. he wants to keep them a secret. doesn't want to tell us how he will pay for this tax cut. he doesn't want to tell us how he will pay for this defense spending. doesn't want to tell us how he will reduce the deficit. >> he did. >> he wouldn't provide any specifics that is still the problem. people are still waiting. he may have won on performance but he definitely lost on substance. >> i don't think we were watching the same debate. mitt romney said he would the no raise taxes to pay for his tax cuts. he said he was going to cut spending. even said that there would be a grade. he will not borrow money to pay for a program. he said he would cut pbs and big bird. he was very specific about what he would do. in certain places though romney questioned obama and obama just looked at him, when obama said basically you get a tax cut or a tax deduction for moving jobs overseas. mitt romney said i've been in business last 25 years, i don't know what you're talking about.

% or partisans. democracy first, a democratic polling firm. romney has a good night, but no evidence of changing the game. i agree with them completely on the first that romney had a good night. i think we will have to see a minute whether it changed the game. walmart sponsored their walmart focus groups with momentum analysis, a democratic polling firm, one of glen's partners together. they suggested a monster lot of walmart moms, it was a win for romney. the people in the groups were divided between a win for romney or a tie. on the other hand, it said they were disappointed with the president's performance. they do not think he made the case for how another four years would be better. they made the point that neither one of these guys really connected with voters on a personal level, but i think romney did a superior job of debating it. we will be seeing a lot of reviews over the next few days. i think the key thing for us to watch, no question mitt romney won the debate. how much does this change things? in national polls he will get a few points out of this. the more relevant. is that, numb

reaction to last night and what it means? >> first of all, as a yankees fan, a nats fan, and a romney fan, it was a pretty good night. thank you for having fred and i. these are always fun to do. i am a huge fan of your jet engines, utc, particularly when they work. i am still here, so that is a great sign. the tw factors from last night, how much did mitt romney raise his image? we have seen a number of polls showing 2 to 3 points. mitt romney came across as somebody who was more genuine that they it -- than they had realized. this guy could step into the oval office and have no problems doing it. i am not sure that any other republican running in the primaries would have been able to pull that off last night. and i am being generous. it helped some, but the person who helped governor romney most was governor romney. on wednesday night, he was before almost 70 million people, a lot of them undecided voters trying to make up their mind. he made a very clear case that, you know, he is someone who can connect. i thought the thing that was most shocking to me was the fact that the governor -- you know, the president has said to be better liked, more likable, better able to connect with voters, and it seemed to me as though the governor did a better job at doing those things on wednesday night than the president. so i think he helped himself tremendously. >> i want you to take a look at this poll with me. this is a quinnipiac poll. there it is. there you go. likely voters, who cares about the needs and problems of the people like you was the question. obama 60%. romney 46%. what do you make of those numbers? >> i think we'll have to see how those numbers change over the course of the next few weeks i don't know that those numbers actually reflect what voters got to see. the president has been the president for four years. by
